Tuesday 12th July
We went to the Forest of Dean steam railway. We all had the chance to
ride on the footplate of a steam engine and learn to drive it. We took
turns to drive and had great fun operating the controls. The whistle was
particularly popular! The train driver and guardsman were very nice and
helped us to pull the very stiff levers. We had lunch in the station
café and the gift shop was well supported!

Wednesday 13th July
We set off to Swindon to visit the steam railway museum. We went around
the museum and looked at and touched some really great exhibits such as
the Caerphilly castle steam engine. After yesterday it would have been
nice to drive them, as we are now experts! Following our visit to the
museum we hit the shops in the outlet village. Cadbury’s store was very
popular and a lot of chocolate was purchased!

Thursday 14th July
Today we went to Cheltenham to ride the Gloucestershire and
Worcestershire railway. We went from Cheltenham race grounds to
Toddington by steam rail then had lunch in the café before getting on
the Diesel multiple unit for an extended journey that eventually took us
back to Cheltenham. We got to sit directly behind the driver and watch
him as he worked. Tonight we go to the Toby Carvery for our last
holiday meal.

Friday 15th July
