(plus a bit of Doctor Who!!)
Chrissie, Lorraine and David met Sabine and David at the Travelodge. Antony met the rest of the group and they all checked-in to their lodge, in the Forest of Dean. Everyone unpacked and enjoyed a welcome meal and then settled in for a night of TV.
After a cooked breakfast we went for a drive to Puzzlewood. Puzzlewod was used as one of the locations for the recent Star Wars film. We all enjoyed a good walk and this was a great opportunity for photos. Everyone enjoyed refreshments in the coffee bar. We then visited Clearwell Caves, stopped at a pub and then visited some shops.For our evening meal we had jacket potatoes and tuna.
Today we visited the city of Gloucester and the fabulous cathedral there. We even took part in some of the church service with Antony and Chrissie taking communion.There was a choir and we enjoyed the beautiful singing. There was a tour of the cathedral and we learnt all about The Harry Potter films, some scenes were filmed there. We then looked around the city and the near-by docks and The Quays area. All did well with the walking today. Later in the afternoon we had a Sunday Roast dinner in a restaurant . Everyone agreed they had a brilliant day
After breakfast we all did a shop at Tesco and then made our own packed lunches. Everyone wanted pizza for their evening meal.Today we visited Tintern Abbey and had the chance to buy some souvenirs. After our packed lunch we went on to visit Chepstow Castle, which was wonderful. Everyone agreed to go to the local pub to enjoy a pint and a live music band.We are all a little tired. Therefore, after deciding what we would like to do tomorrow, we should have an early night!
Today we went further afield and visited Swindon Outlet Shopping Centre. The Steam Museum is within the complex and we managed to visit the museum as well as taking advantage of the shops. We shopped until we dropped buying chocolates at the cadbury and Thornton shop. We had homemade sandwiches and all cooked a delicious pasta bake.
Today we had a long walk in the Forest of Dean and we stopped for a lovely pub lunch. Antony, Lorraine and Sabine enjoyed a dip in the hot tub which they enjoyed very much. A great way to unwind and relax after a long walk! Antony wanted to cook tonight and all opted for a Korma.
Thursday we drove to Cardiff to experience "The Doctor Who Show". We got there in plenty of time and enjoyed seeing the Dr Who monsters along with a set of The Tardis. There were also some green screens and plenty of Daleks! Later we went on a boat trip around the harbour. Everyone enjoyed themselves very much. To end the holiday we all decided to go out for a meal.
Friday and it is our last day. With everyone packed and ready to go we all said "good bye" to one another and agreed we had all had a very enjoyable time.
