We had a delicious breakfast in the hotel and then headed to Thirsk where we spent the morning at The James Herriot museum. We found a lovely little cafe for lunch before strolling over to the Thirsk museum. After learning all about the history of Thirsk we decided to visit the church. Then we all had a lovely piece of cake and a drink. Later in the evening we enjoyed a meal out at The Black Lion.

Harewood House Wednesday 10th July

Today we visited Harewood House and it's beautiful gardens. It is a country house in Harewood, near Leeds. We began by walking around the grounds looking at all the animals. We saw some rare birds, penguins, guinea pigs and farm animals. We then took a boat trip across the lake to the walled vegetable garden. After lunch we went inside Harewood House and marvelled at the beautiful interiors. We also stopped for a drink and a cake. For our meal this evening we visited The Crown and Anchor where we had a heart warming meal.
Thursday 11th July

There were "fry ups" all round this morning for breakfast then into the minibus for a beautiful scenic drive to Goathland where "Heartbeat" the TV series was filmed. Goathland is in the heart of the North York moors. We visited some of the 'sets' from the TV series such as the train station, Scripp's and the Aidensfield garage. We then headed up to the village and had lunch in a lovely tea room before having photos taken with the cars from the TV series "Heartbeat". Then we got back into the minibus and drove to Pickering Castle for a visit. In the evening we went for a scrumptious pub meal.

This morning after breakfast we headed to the seaside town of Scarborough. We took a scenic route across the moors and our first stop near Scarborough was The Sea Life Centre. We spent a while looking around at the fish, penguins, seals, turtles and otters. We then headed to the cafe for lunch. After lunch we drove along the coast into Scarborough itself and had an afternoon drink and ice cream before heading home. In the evening we ate a delicious meal at The Old Oak Tree.
Saturday 13th July

Today was the day we had been excited about all week! We had our usual hearty breakfast, got on to the minibus and headed to The Emmerdale Studios. We spent the first half of the tour looking at the dressing rooms, outfits and some of the sets. We got to pull pints in The Woolpack and had 'coffee' in the Emmerdale cafe. On the 2nd part of the tour we took a shuttle bus to the ITV Studios where got to look around more sets and see the canteen that the actors use. Then we drove to look at the real life Woolpack and the original village location for Emmerdale Farm (before the village set was built).
