Monday 12th June
We met for breakfast at 9am and after an hour we headed out for our
first trip. We visited 'The world of James Herriot' in Thirsk, it has
won a White Rose Tourism award. Everyone said they enjoyed it. We had
sandwiches for lunch then drove to Rievaulx Abbey, on the way we met a
farmer with a quadbike, sheepdog and many sheep. The Abbey is a former
Cistercian Monastry. We enjoyed walking around the Abbey and we rested
in the cafe for a drink and a cake. (yum) Later in the evening we had
our meal in a pub close to the hotel. |
Tuesday 13th June
Today we travelled to the village of Esholt, this is where they used to
film the soap opera 'Emmerdale'. We saw the Post Office, the church and
The Woolpack from Emmerdale, where we had a drink. We also saw the local
cafe from the soap. Haworth was our next destination. We watched a steam
train coming in to the station. Peter and Anthony walked up a very steep
cobbled street and stood outside 'The Bronte Parsonage'. In the evening
we had our meal in The Toby Carvery. |

Goathland. Goathland is where the TV series 'Heartbeat' was filmed. We

We then had lunch in the tea room and all had our photo taken with the
police car from the series. The weather was very warm today. After a
chance to relax back at the hotel we then had our evening meal in The
Fox and Roman pub, opposite the hotel. |

Friday 16th June
We visited Scarborough before going to the sea front. We parked outside
The Royal TV series building and bought souvenirs. It was time for lunch
and afterwards we had fun in the Arcade spending and winning 2p's ! We
enjoyed an ice cream in the hot sunshine. In the evening we went for a
pub meal close to the hotel. |
Saturday 17th June
Today we went to the National Railway Museum. It was fantastic to see
these huge locomotives and know that most of them are still in working
order. We learned how they work and had a go at pulling the leavers. We
also saw the royal train carriage and marvelled at how posh they were.
We had lunch amongst the engines and after doing some shopping went to
York Minster by local train. In the evening we had a lovely dinner
