Skegness 2017
Holiday dates 30th July to 13th August 2017
 
Holidaying are: Fred, John, George, Ian, Pam, Roger & Debbie, with Sabine & David.
 
Sunday 30th July

Everyone travelled from their own destinations and we all arrived at The Sun Hotel in Skegness. We settled in to our own rooms then had a meal of fish and chips, yummy !

Skegness Monday 31st July

We awoke to enjoy a full English breakfast. Then we took a short stroll to the near-by Aquarium and watched the fish being fed while we took our tour. There was a stop for refreshments at the Aquarium Cafe and then we hit the shops for souvenirs, on our way back to the hotel. In the evening we had dinner at the hotel and took part in the karaoke evening.
Tuesday 1st August

After breakfast we set off to 'The Village Church Farm Museum'. It is an open-air museum of local and agricultural history. We walked into a thatched cottage which had been moved from a near-by village. This mud hut was originally built in the 1700's. In the afternoon we visited a seal sanctuary then back to the hotel for our evening meal.

Wildlife Park Wednesday 2nd August

The 'boys' decided to go for a stroll along the promenade. Where we spent time at the beach and devoured lovely sugary doughnuts. In the afternoon we visited a Wildlife Park, where we saw tigers, pumas and other exotic wildlife including some colorful parrots. Later we had dinner at 'Raf55' where they serve an all you can eat buffet, followed by karaoke.
Thursday 3rd August

Today we all chilled out and used the day to do some shopping. Some of us needed to shop for clothes. Debbie was looking forward to watching some of her favourite TV programes along with a leisurely shower. Roger had his magazines to read through.

Model Village Friday 4th August

Today we visited The Model Village and gardens. We had a good look around and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had very good food with a lunch time meal out and our usual evening meal followed by karaoke back at the hotel.
Saturday 5th August

After breakfast we walked to the beach and Skegness Pier. Where we had Ice creams, coffees and cake. We watched as the donkeys arrived on the beach. Debbie and John bought some sunglasses.We had lunch while we were out. Later Debbie, John, George and Fred did their packing ready for tomorrow.

Circus Sunday 6th August

We travelled to Lincoln for the day (along with dropping Fred and John back home as they are only staying for one week). We had a Sunday roast meal except for Cynthia who had fish and chips later with David (Cynthia arrived for week 2). In the evening we visited the local Circus. Everyone said it was a wonderful experience and all enjoyed it !
Monday 7th August

Another warm if a little cloudy day and after breakfast we headed to the Market Town of Boston. Once there we shopped and had a coffe in the Church of St Botolphs. After strolling along the medieval lanes in Boston everyone had managed to find and buy a souvenir from the shops.Later, back at the hotel we played crazy golf and karaoke.

Theatre Tuesday 8th August

A wet start to the day so we decided to visit the town of Louth. We had coffee and a cake at St James Church where we learned all about the history of the town and the church, it celebrated the 500th anniversary of the spire. We then did some more shopping followed by an evening at The Theatre to watch 'Lipstick on my collar'.
Wednesday 9th August

Today we spent the morning and early afternoon in town. We then walked along the promenade watching the sea waves (it was very windy weather today).In the early evening we went out for dinner and to watch a 'Country and Western Theme night'.

Tattershall Castle Thursday 10th August

After breakfast we took a drive out to Tattershall Castle, originally built in 1231 and expanded by Lord Cromwell between 1430 and 1450. We toured the castle and grounds and stopped for afternoon tea. The weather was beautiful for us today. Then we went back to the hotel for our evening meal.
Friday 11th August

Today we drove to Lincoln and spent most of the day in and around the magnificent Cathederal of Lincoln. We enjoyed a coffee and a cake at a Tea Shop and then later we had dinner at a  Weatherspoons pub.

Pony Carriage Saturday 12th August

Our last full day, so after our special breakfast we walked into Skegness shopping arcade and spent some serious time souvenir hunting. After coffee we walked to the seafront where some had a trip on a pony carriage followed by ride on a pedal boat. We then had a well earned rest before our fish and chips at our favourite bar.
Sunday 13th August

With all our packing complete everyone said their good-byes before setting off for home.
