Thursday 19th September
This morning we woke up feeling refreshed after a good nights sleep. We
went on the subway to south ferry to catch the boat to see the famous
Statue of Liberty, then on to Ellis Island. Gemma loved taking lots of
pictures and we all enjoyed looking around. In the evening we went out
to Ruby Tuesdays for a classic American dinner experience. We were soon
tired as it was the middle of the night back in England (due to the time
difference). |
Friday 20th September
Today we travelled on an open top bus tour of New York City. We stopped
off to see 'ground zero' the memorial for the 9/11 tragedy. We took in
all the sights then Billy, Billy and Jeff chose to head back to the
hotel. While the rest of the group had a walk around Central Park. That
evening after dinner everyone enjoyed seeing Times Square all lit up.
There was also a chance to buy a few souvenirs in a gift shop. |

It was time to say goodbye to New York and catch our train which would
take us to Boston. It was a very comfortable train and we took in all
the scenery along the way. Once we had collected our hire car we drove
to our hotel in Plymouth and we were looking forward to our next few
days of adventure! |
Sunday 22nd September
Today we visited Plimouth Plantation, it is a living history museum in
Plymouth. Firstly we saw what life would have been like for the native
Americans 400 years ago, when the British first arrived. Then we went on
to see the village that the first English settlers would have lived in.
We all enjoyed our day and thought it was great fun. |

Monday 23rd September
We took a tour of Plymouth today. The harbour was very beautiful, we
stopped off and visited Plymouth Rock which was where the first settlers
got off The Mayflower ship when they first arrived in America. We
visited the burial ground where the first settlers had been buried. We
then had a spot of retail therapy and a lovely ice cream. After our
final stop at the monument we visited a lovely Mexican restaurant. We
listened to a Mariache Band while we ate our Mexican food. |
Tuesday 24th September
Today we said goodbye to Plymouth and set off towards Lincoln. We
stopped en route at Lexington to see where the first shots were fired
against the British which started the American Civil War. We stood on
the green where it took place. We then visited Concord and the old
bridge where a key battle of the war took place. The visitors Centre was
very informative and interesting. We then drove up into the mountains to
Lincoln to our hotel for the next 4 nights. |

Wednesday 25th September
This morning we went for a walk to see flume gorge. It was a short hike
in the forest which was very beautiful. we even saw a bear cave! luckily
there were no bears in it. We then went on to our trip on the sky tram,
way up to the top of Cannon mountain. The clouds were very low and
unfortunately obscured the view a little but we did not mind. In the
evening we went to a restaurant that had live music. Billy loved them
playing 'Billy Joel' songs and Gemma and Paul had a dance. |
Thursday 26th September
In the morning we set off for Montpellier to see the Vermont Capital
Building, one of the most picturesque state houses. It was raining a
little but we did not let it spoil the day. We really enjoyed looking
around the State Building with all its original features. After lunch we
went to visit the 'Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory', yum yum! We had a
look around to see how the ice cream was made and then the best room...
the tasting room! |
