This morning we all met at Heathrow Airport for our flight to New York.Once in New York we hailed a taxi to our hotel .Kirsty and Kirstine were already at the hotel having travelled from the Los Angeles holiday. We were all very tired after our travels and retired to bed, ready for the start of our holiday in the morning.
Some of us had yummy pancakes for breakfast. It was decided, after a discussion, that people would like to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island via the subway. We took a boat to Liberty Island and then on to Ellis Island where we learned about the immigration process during 1890 - 1930. It was very interesting and informative. Later on we returned to mid town for our evening meal and then back to the hotel.
Today we went on an open top bus tour of New York. We saw the Empire State Building, the Sky Scrapers of New York, through the financial district and Wall Street.We also saw Madison Square Gardens, through China Town and the Statue of Liberty again. Next we came to Time Square, our guide was very informative. We had a fabulous time and thoughrougly enjoyed the tour.
This morning after breakfast we caught the bus to The Empire State Building.There were long queues but we soon made it up to the 80th floor where we looked at the history of the building. It was the tallest building for over 30 years. We then went to the 86th floor where we could enjoy the views from the platform.Everyone made it outside to enjoy the views.
Later we went out for a delicious meal.
Today we visited Ripley's in Time Square. It was very interesting and we saw lots of weird and wonderful things, including a 2 headed cow and goat ! There was a large buddha who brings you luck if you rub his tummy. We also had photos taken which looked like we were climbing the Empire State Building.We had a great day playing lazer games.
In the evening we went for a lovely meal and a walk around the gift shops.
Today we walked to Central Park. It was a beautiful sunny day. We wandered around and tried a snack of roasted nuts along with ice cream. Ben had a ride on the carousel. We then found a BBQ for lunch in the park and had great hot dogs. In the evening we went to see Stomp at The Theatre, the music was made from things like brooms, bins and tubes, it was a great evening.
Today was our going home day so we packed and checked out of our rooms.We left our baggage in the hotel baggage room and went for a leisurely breakfast . We had time to do some last minute shopping for gifts and souvenirs before heading to the airport for our flight home.
