We all met up at the airport to fly from Gatwick to Skiathos for our Mamma Mia Holiday in Greece. Miriam came prepared dressed as Donna in her dungarees! We soon arrived with a bump, as the landing strip was very short! Our driver took us to our hotel and everyone was impressed. Ricky thought that with the lights on it looked like a Spaceship.
This morning after breakfast we did our unpacking as we had all decided to have a drink in the bar last night instead of unpacking. Then it was time to relax around our pool and decide about the trips we would like to go on. Emily and Lizzie went swimming while Kate thought it was too cold in the pool. In the afternoon Ricky and Lizzie had a complimentary massage. Dinner in the evening was a Greek BBQ which was delicious.
Today after breakfast we went to the Port to catch our boat which we would sail to Skopelos. On the way we saw some dolphins and we listened to the Mamma Mia sound track as we sailed. There were refreshments from the crew, Theodore and Paulina. Ricky got the chance to take a turn steering the boat. We saw the same beach that was used in the film Mamma Mia and we stopped at Glossa for a lovely lunch. Miriam had 'cala mari' for the first time and really enjoyed it, infact everyone enjoyed the Greek food. We then went to the chapel which was in the wedding scene from the film. We walked right up to the top, it was a very steep but worthwhile walk with beautiful views out to sea. After our visit and back on the boat we relaxed on the roof of the boat. We were lucky to see dolphins again on the way back. In the evening we listened to some Greek music which was fun.
Today we went down to the beach. We could see our hotel from the beach. We had lunch in one of the cafes and also enjoyed an ice cream. The sea was a little cold but Emily enjoyed a paddle in the sea. Then back at the hotel Miriam, Jane and Emily swam in the pool. In the evening we played Bingo, higher or lower and 'don't show Keith your teeth' which was very funny!
After breakfast Jade, Ricky and Lizzie went to Skiathos town on the bus to look around the shops and to have lunch. The rest of the group spent the day relaxing in the pool while they took it in turns to go to their massages. Jane, Emily and Miriam swam in the pool. We made our own entertainment in the evening and thoroughly enjoyed playing Bingo and Charades.
Today after breakfast we set off in our cars to The Monastery and looked around the museum where the first Greek flag was woven on a loom. The original loom was there on display. We also saw lots of friendly cats and 2 playful puppies that we played with. After a lovely lunch we looked around the Monastery shop for some gifts and souvenirs before heading back to the hotel.
We headed to Skiathos town today to look around the shops for gifts and souvenirs, to take home. We had a lovely lunch at the Port and after some more shopping we all enjoyed an ice cream yum! In the evening we all got dressed up to go and see the film 'Mamma Mia' at the outdoor cinema. We loved joining in with the songs and dancing along to the film, towards the end of the film there were thunderstorms! We got soaked but agreed it was a great night anyway!
Ricky said the best things about his holiday were 1. Creating memories 2. Having a good time 3. Meeting new people.
Jane and Miriam said they had a great holiday they would come here again and recommend it to everyone. Emily said she really enjoyed the Options Holiday and wants to come again. Kate enjoyed her massages and the meals in the restaurant, she also would recommend coming back again. Lizzie would also recommend the hotel, the food and the massages.
We had a lovely day at the beach before catching our flight home.
