|
Holidaying are: Sarah, Sue, John, Tony, David & James, with Kirstine
& Tegan. |
|
Saturday 3rd June
We all met up at the airport to catch our flight to Lanzarote. Those who
had not met before introduced themselves as for some it was their first
holiday with Options. James was very excited to be flying for the first
time. We had a very smooth flight. Sarah and James were lucky enough to
meet the pilot and sit in the co-Pilot seat ! We collected our car hire
and drove the short distance to our villa. It was late when we arrived.
We had a sandwich and went off to bed. |

Sunday 4th June
This morning we unpacked, due to our late arrival yesterday. After a
lovely breakfast we discussed what food we would like to eat and drove
to the supermarket to do our shopping. After lunch Sarah and Sue enjoyed
doing some coloring. James and John opted to swim in the pool, along
with David. Tony watched some TV but then decided to join them. Everyone
had a relaxing first day. |
Monday 5th June
Today was a lovely sunny day although a little windy. We all chose to
stay at the Villa today and to swim in the pool. We enjoyed the
inflatables and relaxing around the pool. In the evening, after we had
all helped clear away after dinner, we went out for a bit of late night
shopping. Then on to a pub for a couple of drinks and to listen to a
live band. |

Tuesday 6th June
Today we travelled to Rancho Texas Park. We saw lots of different
animals. James enjoyed the ponies and wanted to take one home! Sarah
enjoyed watching the parrot show. Tony was interested in the white
tigers, John said The Sea Lion Show was his best bit and Sue liked the
rabbits. David enjoyed all of it. We had a lovely lunch out and had our
photo's taken with parrots and the sea lion. Everyone was very tired
when we got back to the villa. |
Wednesday 7th June
We had a nice lie-in today with a late breakfast of bacon and eggs. We
relaxed by the pool, sunbathing or doing our colouring in. We lit the
BBQ for lunch and had a lovely meal with burgers and kebabs. After lunch
some of us went swimming in the pool. Later on we went to The Irish
Anvil for a drink. Sarah bought some chips for everyone to share. James
was very pleased to get "selfie" with him, John and the bar staff. |

Thursday 8th June
After another late morning we gathered our things together for a visit
to the beach. We went to Punta del Papagayo the 'parrot Beaches' they
have lovely golden sands and are the nicest on the Island. Some of us
had a paddle in the sea and we relaxed and enjoyed the beach and
sunshine. After lunch it was time to hit the shops to get a few gifts
and souvenirs. We found an ice cream parlour where we stopped for a
yummy ice cream. This evening we had traditional Spanish Tortillas. |
Friday 9th June
Today we had another late morning! (Oh to be on holiday!) When we all
had eggs for breakfast which everyone enjoyed. We relaxed by the pool or
inside the Villa. The rest was much appreciated after our busy few days.
We swam and listened to music in the garden. In the evening after our
meal of tuna pasta followed by chocolate pudding and ice cream we
decided to go to our favourite pub The Irish Anvil. |

Saturday 10th June
This morning we got up early to allow the cleaners to come in and change
our bedding and clean the villa. David said he really enjoyed his lazy
mornings. Our first adventure today was a camel ride, it was a wonderful
experience. Once we had finished our camel ride we visited Playa Blanca
as we wanted to look around the shops. In the evening we headed back to
the villa for our dinner and a few beers for Sarah and Sue. |
Sunday 11th June
Today was another day with an early start as we were going to Teguise
market. When we arrived it was very busy. We looked around the stalls
getting some great gifts and souvenirs. Some got new T-shits and some
got new watches. We had lunch and looked around the stalls again getting
some more bits and bobs before heading back to the villa for our lovely
roast dinner that evening. |

Monday 12th June
This morning we had a lazy day, each person having breakfast as they
woke. We relaxed by the pool and some enjoyed a swim. For lunch we made
a BBQ and then cooked our food. In the evening we went to the pub for a
few drinks and to watch the live band play, they played some of the
songs we requested. Another great evening. |
Tuesday 13th June
We really could get used to all these lazy mornings! Everyone enjoyed
having breakfast as and when they wanted. Once we had all had breakfast
(David was the last one to wake up) we went to Playa Blanca to look
around the shops and to have a drink in a cafe. We then headed back to
the villa for lunch and to get ready for our evening out. We were to
have a cowboy evening at the Texas Rancho. It was brilliant fun, we wore
a sombrero, watched the dancers and the lasso & whip show. |

Wednesday 14th June
Today after breakfast some of us walked to the little local shop,
nearby. Kirstine and James climbed the volcano by "Montana Roja". They
walked around the crater and saw fabulous views of the sea and the
island. That evening we had another BBQ and James played his music while
we had a party on our varranda. It was a great evening! |
Thursday 15th June
Today we visited the Volcano Parque Nacional De Timanfaya. We saw the
park wardens demonstrate what is happening below the thin crust of lava.
Brushwood is pushed into a shallow pit which ignites spontaneously. A
bucket of water is was then emptied in to a meter deep hole, seconds
later an explosive guiser of steam shoots up. After this we had a 45
minute journey on the volcano route seeing the collapsed lava tunnels,
huge ash slides and hornitos (hornitos are formedin volcanic lava
flows). |

Friday 16th June
This morning, after breakfast, we relaxed by the pool and those who
wanted to could enjoy a swim. We then went to Salinas De Janubio, this
is where the salt pans are that produce sea salt. We all shared an
enormous paella at Mirador las Salinas Casa Domingo. After our massive
dinner we headed to El Golfo and walked to Charcorde los Clicos which is
a lake shaped like a sickle. The lake is formed from a sunken volcanic
crater and has a very unusual colour of water, it has a very high salt
content and due to a special algae it turns bright green. We had ice-
creams before driving back through the lava stone. |
Saturday 17th June
Today was our last day. We spent the day packing, eating our leftover
food (yum!) and relaxing until it was eventually time to fly home. We
have had a fabulous time and want to come back to Lanzarote soon. |
