Saturday 28th May
After breakfast we had a boat ride on a steamer with an open deck, the
cruise took approximately two hours, on England’s most beautiful lake
Ullswater. Jamie got some postcards to write. We then went to the
supermarket to buy the food for the week and get some snacks to eat at
the cottage. In the afternoon the sun came out and it was lovely as we
enjoyed a cream tea.

After a relaxing morning we went to the Brackenrigg Inn for a roast

Wednesday 1st June
After breakfast we made our way to Lowther Castle, a treasure in the
Lake District. We toured the castle and walked round the beautiful
gardens. Darren really enjoyed reading about the history of the castle
and the secret hidden gardens. We looked around the gift shop and
bought some gifts and souvenirs. We all helped with the dinner
preparation Jamie enjoyed making the trifle. |
Thursday 2nd June
Today we had a slow start, having breakfast and making sandwiches for
our picnic lunch. This morning we visited a horse fair in Appleby. Irish
travellers ran the fair. Hundreds of horses, shires and ponies were
there. We then went to Penrith town and visited the George hotel where
we had tea and coffee. We finished the day with fish and chips!
