Friday 22nd June
We were up early ay 5.30am and on the ferry for an 08:15 departure. We
had front window seats reserved with a fantastic view of the sea. We
disembarked from the ferry at 15:00 hours and started our 5 hour drive,
with a long brake along the way for a picnic. After our long day of
travel we arrived at the Gite at 10:45 and we were all very tired. |

Saturday 23th June
We started the day with breakfast in our pyjamas, outside in the garden.
Then a relaxing morning doing our unpacking. We ate lunch outside and
took a trip to the shops to buy food and some craft materials for the
week. Today was John's birthday and we helped him celebrate. He opened
all his presents and we gave him a cake and a present of a mug, bowl
along with a card. Wendy also led a lovely service within the grounds of
the stone circle today with prayers and hymns. In the evening we all
went to a nearby village restaurant for a BBQ with live Gypsy music (2
guitarists and vocalists). |
Sunday 24th June
Today we all had a Tai Chi class outside in the sunshine which everyone
enjoyed. The teacher for this was from England. Then we painted pots
whilst Helen and Andrew watched the England football match, it was part
of the world cup! In the evening we took a drive and then had a picnic
meal followed by a dip in the sea. Once back we watched the sunset. |

Monday 25th June
After breakfast, we drove to St Auvent (a mini Lourdes) where we had a
picnic and then we each lit a candle and said a prayer. We found this
place to be very peaceful. Later, we shopped for postcards and ice
cream. Once back at the Gite Wendy cooked a sausage casserole and we all
played a games competition, including boules and a table top game. |
Tuesday 26th June
Today we went shopping and then enjoyed a lovely Chinese Buffet meal.
Afterwards we drove to the standing stones. In the evening we had a
picnic and walked along the river to a waterfall. It was very
picturesque. |

Wednesday 27th June
We had a craft morning and in the afternoon we went to a lake where we
all had a paddle or a swim. Catherine who owns the Gite took her dogs
along and one of the dogs also enjoyed a dip in the water. In the
evening we had a BBQ meal followed by bingo and a quiz. |
Thursday 28th June
Today we all had lunch at The Gite followed by our prize giving
ceremony. This was from all the games and quizzes we had taken part in
during the week. Andrew won the 1st prize! After lunch it was time to
take those who were going home to the airport. Once at the airport we
would pick up those joining us for the next week. |
