Sunday
We met Geraint at Stanstead airport and travelled to Limoges we then
went to the gîte where we met Wendy who was well known to us all. Betty
was there from the previous week.
After unpacking we had a lovely piece of local Limousin beef for
dinner. It was quite late by the time we finished so after being greeted
by our hosts, Catherine and Jim and the dogs, tommy and moriaty, we
turned in for and early night.
Monday
We chose to do a shopping trip and to have lunch out in Bellac.
We started on some craft activities which were on-going projects.
In the evening we had a mint and melon cocktail, cold sliced meat and
salad and new potatoes and rhubarb crumble made from fruit from the
garden. It was so hot we sat outside drinking and relaxing till it was
time for bed.
Tuesday
We set off early with picnic, tables and chairs and a few activities to
do while we waited for the tour de France cyclists to come by. It was a
very exciting day with people lining the roads to watch all the cars and
floats which preceded the race and of course we had a first class view
of the race itself.
Wednesday
We went to Mont Senard to visit the old buildings which are open to
the public. Our favourite was the school room. we found a super little
place for lunch before returning to the Gite, via the shops.
In the evening we had a bbq and invited some friends. then we all
played petang.
Thursday
Another very hot day so we headed for the lakes at Paradoux for a
shady picnic and a paddle for those who wished.
After some bead activites in the shade of the trees, we set off to Le
Dorat to dine at the farmer’s market, a very special occasion with lots
of French music and taking our food to be cooked on the massive BBQs.
Friday
This morning we set up around the grounds of the Gîte and did some
painting
.
We then packed a picnic and went on a spectacular trip up the mountain
of Blond.
We had to walk the last bit and it was very steep but the views made it
all worthwhile and it was much cooler up there too.
In the evening we had our final dinner at our favourite restaurant in
Mont Senard and what a lovely meal we had!
