Faith Week 2011
By the whole group

The subject of this year’s faith week was “don’t give up the chocolate” and we looked at how during lent we could be more positive.

We met at the bells hotel on Tuesday afternoon and having unpacked and met the team we all enjoyed a lovely dinner.

After dinner Wendy gave us an introductory talk about being positive and about doing positive things rather than giving things up for lent. We all thought about what we would like to achieve during the week.

Faith Week 2011On Wednesday after breakfast Estelle told us the story of Moses and the burning bush and then we went to Wendy’s house where we made chocolates and decorated boxes to put them in we had a lovely picnic lunch at Wendy’s in the garden.

In the afternoon we went to Taurus crafts where we all looked round and also had a lovely tea. We went back to the hotel to change for dinner and after dinner we went to the white heart hotel to play skittles.

On Thursday we had Morning Prayer followed by Peter telling us the story of the feeding of the 5 thousand and we all shared some bread.

After that we made cross stitch cards then we went to mallards pike and had a picnic by the lake followed by a relaxing walk beside the lake.

Faith Week 2011In the evening after dinner we watched Jesus Christ superstar.

On Friday after Morning Prayer we had a talk from Fred on the annunciation followed by a trip to Gloucester cathedral and Ann gave us a wonderful guided tour. We followed that with lunch in the cloisters and then a bit of retail therapy in Gloucester.

In the evening after dinner we had a music session.

On Saturday morning we had a talk from Wendy on achieving our goals and being grateful for what we have compared to some people in the world. In the afternoon we had a rehearsal for the play and dance that we were doing in the morning service on Sunday morning... all the team joined us for dinner at the hotel again .

On Sunday morning we had the service and some of our families joined us. Julie and pat and Carol did a lovely dance to “is it I Lord” and the enactment of the story of Moses and the burning bush was done by Peter as God and Carol read the part of Moses and Pat acted the part. The music group were joined by Peter on the drums and Julie on the tambourine. Before we left we had a bring and share lunch with the congregation.

The end of another lovely faith week.
