Wednesday 3rd October
After a lovely breakfast we split in to two groups. One group went to
Kassiopi a spectacular fishing village. We had a good stroll around
admiring the beautiful views of Albania. The other group went to a
house with fantastic views of the bay near to where we are staying and
played games.
In the evening we played bingo and James won! |

Thursday 4th October
The group that didn't go yesterday went to Kassiopi today. They explored
the village and the surrounding area. The other group went to explore
the local village and the hill which led to the headland. There were
beautiful views once there and we enjoyed a coffee at one of the most
scenic restaurants.
In the evening there was a quiz and our team came 3rd and won a prize. |
Friday 5th October
Today was a 'beach day' as the weather was so lovely. We hired beach
beds and had our lunch at a beach side restaurant. Some of the group had
afternoon tea and enjoyed some cake. It was a karaoke evening and lots
of fun even for those who did not take part. |

Saturday 6th October
There were thunderstorms today, so we spent the time writing our
postcards and nipping to the local shops. We had lunch in the hotel and
could eat whatever we wanted. In the evening the entertainment was a
show called "Divas" which was all about 60's, 70's and 80's music. The
thunderstorm had thankfully died down by the evening. |
Sunday 7th October
Enjoying a dip in the sea |
|
|
Monday 8th October
Today we went on a boat trip to Corfu Town. This meant getting up very
early but it was well worth it. We had a lovely day travelling on the
boat and once we arrived the town had interesting narrow alleyways full
of slopes. We visited the site of the "Old Fortress", a Venetian
fortress which once contained the old town of Corfu during the Byzantine
period.(shown in the photo at the top of this diary) |
Tuesday 9th October
Some of the group went up to Castle Angelo and the nearby village, both
were very pretty places and interesting. The castle is now ruins but the
remains could help you imagine how it once looked. There was then a chance to do
some gift shopping as well as enjoy the pretty village and seaside
resort. We had a TV and music quiz in the evening which our group won! |
|
|
Wednesday 10th October
Today was a beach day. Such beautiful weather, the sea was calm and
there was a welcome light breeze. We had lunch in a local restaurant
where some of the group tried the local Greek dish called Meze. Tonight
there was traditional Greek dancing and we enjoyed taking part. |
Thursday 11th October
We went for a BBQ today, with traditional Greek food including Octopus.
There was traditional Greek music playing and we enjoyed chatting with
some of the locals. Tonight is bingo night at the hotel, two of our
group won cash prizes! |

Friday 12th October
Today we went to the town of Sidari, a picturesque beach town. We were
able to do some gift shopping here and we stopped for lunch by the beach
in a nice restaurant. We had a good look around the busy town.
There was an International Football Match between Croatia and England on
the TV today and everyone wanted to watch it. The score was Croatia 0 -
England 0!
One of our "pool days" |
Saturday 13th October
Today some of the group visited the top of the mountain, from there we
had some fantastic views. There is a little cafe there and we were able
to sit and admire the view. You can see both sides of the Island from
here. The Monastery was also very interesting to look around. |
|
|
Sunday 14th October
It was a hotel pool day today! This was a gloriously sunny day with no
breeze, so the day was spent in or around the pool. The evening
entertainment was a karaoke and we managed to get some of the staff to
sing! It was also Jame's birthday today and we were able to celebrate with
him. |
Monday 15th October
Time to travel home, even "Ode the Options Teddy Bear" had to pack his
bag. We then said our goodbyes to the friends we have made. We have all
had a great holiday! |
