MARTIN EVANS’ HOLIDAY IN CORFU 2015.
MY FIRST HOLIDAY IN CORFU ON MY OWN WITH OPTION HOLIDAYS. |

|
5th October 2015 - Bingo
Peter, Dorothy from Options Holidays drove Martin, Andrew, Keith, Martin
and Michael to Pantocrator. We went all the way to the top of the
mountain. It is the highest mountain on Corfu at 917m (about 3000 feet).
We had a very good view looking ahead from the mountain. We went to the
monastery and I lit 2 candles for Mum and Dad and wrote how much I still
loved them. Then we had lunch outside, at the cafe. We left and decided
to go to Sidari which is by the sea for an hour. |
I had some photos taken of me and Elaine. This is one of them. |
10th October 2015 - Greek Party Night
Today we went to the Corfu Brewery for a tour round which was really
interesting. He told us how Corfu Beer was made and after he talked
about everything, he asked if we had any questions. I asked him "how
many people work here?" And he said "20". We all had a free drink of
beer after the visit.
At the Greek Night we all sat down to have Greek food - there was a lot
of it! After the meal we all went into the bar area for some Greek
dancing. The Greek dancers asked people to get up and form a line, the
lady dancer showed us what to do with our legs and then they started the
music and we'd started to go round the tables and chairs and outside -
all around the hotel. This is Hasapiko. After that there was some fire
dancing. I had to get on my knees. Kirk and Mark and myself had fire
coming round us on the floor as the dancers moved about. At the end of
the night they handed plates out and they did the Zorbas dance. At the
end we all smashed our plates on the floor. |
14th October 2015
Today I went in the car with Geraint, Avril, Elaine, Martin Ford and
Michael and we drove to Paleokastritsa. On the way, Geraint explained we
were driving over the mountain that separates North from South Corfu and
we had views of both sides of the island. In Paleo we first went to the
monastery and went into the museum. After the museum we went into the
church where I paid for two candles and lit them and had my photo taken
next to the candles. We then went to the cafe and had a drink looking at
the view down to the sea. Then we drove back down to the village and had
lunch in a restaurant by the sea. I had a pizza. After lunch we drove
back a different way. We went up a very steep hill and stopped at a
viewpoint very Hugh up where we could look down at the monastery and the
place where we had our lunch and the beautiful coastline. The rest of
the journey also had some lovely views, we came down into St George's
Bay and we stopped for a cup of tea before we came back to the hotel to
get ready to go to Sidari for the Greek night. The Greek dancing was
really good, so we're their costumes. I had a photo taken with them.
They also did some fire dancing. We came back to the hotel and saw the
Abba tribute act. I thought they were really good. I took a photograph
of them and had my photo taken with them. |
