Austria Holiday 2007
By Julie Brooks

Monday:

We had a smooth flight over and booked into our hotel.

Austria 2007Tuesday:

After breakfast we went to the zoo. It felt like a long walk around and we went on a train ride, which was nice, and then we had lunch at the zoo. We then went to the palace and then came back on the train.

Wednesday:

After a continental breakfast, the boys went off and us ladies went for a little wander, finding a lovely little church to look around. We then had a coffee and lunch.

In the afternoon we took a coach on our way to a boat ride. It’s Geraint’s 50th birthday today, and we took a boat down the Danube.

Thursday:

We walked the streets of Vienna, having a coffee under an umbrella, and then we went on the underground train back to the hotel to rest for the evening entertainment. We took another coach listening to the Viennese Waltz and onto to have supper with German food and drink, with lots of singing and dancing in German. We got back very late.

Friday:

We set off on a train to our next hotel in Salzburg – it was quite a long journey to me.

Austria 2007Saturday:

We went on a Sound of Music tour by coach. It was out of this world, I loved it. Our guide told us about the seven children, the names in the play were stage names; the oldest one was really 21. Last night we went to a concert listening to the music from the film. The evening meal was nice and on the way home it started raining and Geraint and I got very wet.

Sunday:

It was wet all day, and we spent the day browsing around Vienna and shopping. I didn’t buy anything as I had brought a key ring and a calendar on the Sound of Music tour.

Monday:

It’s our last day, again spent doing last minute shopping, coffee, a couple of bus rides and then off to the airport.
